Academia
Academia is a social networking site for the research community. It targets academics and scientists in the research and development community and enables them to create their own research webpages, network with their peers and discover new research and conferences. Academia is the first mover in this space. The company is in start-up phase and was founded by Richard Price, All Souls Scholar from Oxford University and founder of Peopleradar.com, a popular application on Facebook. A beta version of the service has been developed and is currently being trialled at Oxford University.
