Sale to Roche

GlycArt, was sold to Roche, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, for approximately CHF 235 million (£104 million) in July 2006, making it one of the biggest biotech deals of the year.

Quester invested in November 2003 and achieved a return of approximately 7x cost.

GlycArt is a Swiss biotechnology company focused on the development and commercialisation of a new generation of antibody products based on its proprietary GlycoMAb technology.  GlycoMAb has the potential to generate best-in-class antibody therapeutics in disease areas such as oncology, where Roche is the global market leader. In addition, Roche acquired GlycArt’s development pipeline, including three monoclonal antibodies in preclinical development for cancer.
