ITV PICKS DX3 FOR MOBILE MUSIC CONTENT
Leading digital services provider DX3 Technologies Ltd (DX3) has been selected by ITV to supply music content across its consumer facing channels. The initial content offer will be available via the ITV Mobile Portal and in the first instance will consist of officially licensed realtones and bespoke content specifically linked to key ITV programmes. A comprehensive full-track to mobile offer will be launched at a future date.
DX3 will provide the ITV Mobile Portal with a managed selection of realtones drawn from its market leading realtone catalogue, all of which are licensed from major record companies and leading independent labels. DX3 will also source or produce the bespoke content required to support programmes such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Love Island and I'm A Celebrity.
The ITV Mobile Portal is accessed either directly by texting MOBILE to 63330, indirectly as a result of viewer interaction with broadcast output (such as receiving WAP push bouncebacks from competition entries or votes) or via ITV Mobile's placement on operator decks. The generic realtone offer will be accessible from the ITV Mobile Portal home page, whilst programme specific content will be located in branded feature areas.
The first bespoke product to be launched is a realtone of 'Easy Come, Easy Go', the music that will be played at the imminent funeral of Emmerdale character Alice Dingle. All net proceeds of the sale of this realtone will be donated to Leukaemia Research.
Jane Marshall, Commercial Development Director, ITV welcomed the launch of the new service:- "Our fast-growing mobile portal is swiftly becoming the hottest destination for entertainment news on the move. We're constantly looking for new ways to excite our viewers and now that most people have a phone with music storage, it's the perfect time for us to introduce music tones and downloads to the portal."
DX3's Director, Paul Sims added:- "We are delighted that DX3 has been selected to provide mobile music solutions to ITV Consumer's channels – the opportunity to provide the right mobile music products to people who are seeking further interaction with their favourite programmes is one that we believe will be of great interest to viewers of some of the biggest shows around".
