Subscribers to cellural ring tones double

By The Citizen Reporter

Tigo Tanzania doubled the number of ring back tone subscribers to 100,000 in March alone.

The level was achieved after deploying a new platform.

Tigo said in a statement yesterday: ''The new Ring back Tone platform was deployed by IMImobile few months ago which offered subscribers unique access to hundreds of hit music singles in English, Swahili, Indian and other African languages.''

The platform clients include Vodafone, Google and Yahoo.

Vishwanath Reddy, CEO of IMImobile, said “We believe that for operators to effectively launch VAS they need a vendor that is flexible and can fully customise and integrate the core platforms. TSTT recognise the value of our IPR centric approach and the need for a managed solution. We can also offer an unparalleled understanding of content and broad selection of content partners including Sony BMG, mforma and MTV.”

IMImobile is a pioneer of delivering VAS on a managed business model, enabling operators and service providers to derive significant new revenue streams without having to make any capital investments.

IMImobile has also built and deployed a vibrant new WAP platform for Tigo's young subscribers.

From it, subscribers are able to browse and download exciting new content like wallpapers and graphics through IMImobile's partnership with over 400 international content providers like Sony and Universal.

Tigo registered 80,000 WAP users in the three months.
